چکیده
The present paper proposes a novel way to unify Rough Set Theory and Formal Concept Analysis. Our method stems from results insights developed in the algebraic theory of modal logic, is based on idea that Pawlak’s original approximation spaces can be seen as special instances enriched formal contexts, i.e. relational structures formal; contexts

Concepts in Philosophy—a Rough Geography
Much recent work on concepts has been inspired by and is developed within the bounds of the representational theory of the mind often taken for granted by philosophers of mind, cognitive scientists, and psychologists alike (see e.g. Margolis and Laurence 1999; Stich and Warfield 1994). The contributions to this volume take a more encompassing perspective on the issue of concepts. Rather than mo...
متن کاملOntology Engineering with Rough Concepts and Instances
A scenario in ontology development and its use is hypothesis testing, such as finding new subconcepts based on the data linked to the ontology. During such experimentation, knowledge tends to be vague and the associated data is often incomplete, which OWL ontologies normally do not consider explicitly. To fill this gap, we use OWL 2 and their application infrastructures together with rough sets...
متن کاملReasoning about Concepts by Rough Mereological Logics
Rough mereology allows for similarity measures (called rough inclusions) which in turn form a basis for the mechanism of granulation of knowledge. Granules of knowledge, defined as classes of satisfactorily similar objects, can be regarded as worlds in which properties of entities are evaluated. Obtained in this way granular rough mereological intensional logics reveal essential properties of r...
متن کاملFormal L-concepts with Rough Intents
We provide a new approach to synthesis of Formal Concept Analysis and Rough Set Theory. In this approach, the formal concept is considered to be a collection of objects accompanied with two collections of attributes—those which are shared by all the objects and those which are possessed by at least one of the objects. We define concept-forming operators for these concepts and describe their pro...
متن کاملVague Concepts: A Rough Set Approach
The approximation space definition has evolved in rough set theory over the last 15 years. The aim was to build a unified framework for concept approximations. We present an overview of this evolution together with some operations on approximation spaces that are used in searching for relevant approximation spaces. Among such operations are inductive extensions and granulations of approximation...
